Foodgasm: KFC K-Cheese Crunch

I swear I’ve had this menu before. Back when I was studying in UiTM Shah Alam, I’m pretty sure KFC’s K-Cheese Crunch was already on the roster. Maybe not exactly the same, but close enough. I think this is one of those seasonal flavours KFC keeps bringing back every now and then, and honestly, it’s been over 10 years since my first try.
When it comes to KFC’s seasonal menus, I personally prefer the powdered seasoning chicken compared to the saucy ones. Saucy flavours are hit-or-miss, where most outlets don’t coat the chicken properly, they just glaze it. But with powdered seasoning, they actually shake the chicken with it, so the flavour sticks to every bite.
Taste Test: K-Cheese Crunch
So how does this one hold up? Honestly, it’s okay. Not bad, but nothing groundbreaking either. These days, Korean fried chicken shops are everywhere, and they serve a similar flavour profile, cheesy, spicy, and crunchy. So the K-Cheese Crunch doesn’t exactly stand out anymore.
But the real star for me? The K-Cheese Cheezilla Burger. That was so, so good. The sauce had a nice kick of spiciness, and the fried mozzarella cheese patty in the middle? Heaven. The combination of crispy chicken, spicy sauce, and melty cheese really worked together.
What I Really Want KFC to Bring Back
As much as I appreciate this comeback, I’m still rooting for my all-time favourites: Curry Crunch and Tom Yam Crunch. Those two flavours were legendary for me, and I’d love to see them return. Not sure if they’ve rotated back into the menu recently (I haven’t been to KFC in a while), but fingers crossed.
