Full Review: KFC Nasi Kari Padu – Is the RM7.99 Meal Actually a Steal?
Whenever a fast-food chain drops a new menu item, I feel a sudden urge to be the "guinea pig." In this economy, when I saw KFC’s Jimat Padu menu featuring the Nasi Kari Padu for just RM7.99, I knew I had to give it a go.
Let’s be real—while you can technically find cheaper food elsewhere, getting a "full" meal at a major franchise for under RM8 feels like an absolute steal for any Malaysian who survives on rice.
The Taste Test
To be honest, it wasn’t groundbreaking. The bowl comes with Colonel Rice, popcorn chicken, an egg, and a generous drenching of curry gravy. Here’s the thing: KFC’s Colonel Rice is already quite flavorful on its own. When you layer a bold, spicy curry gravy on top of it, it becomes an "explosion of flavors"—but maybe a bit too much. It felt like the flavors were competing rather than complementing each other.
In my opinion, it might actually taste better if they stuck to the Original Recipe chicken with the signature gravy instead. The curry is a bit overwhelming for the seasoned rice.
The Verdict
Is it a decent meal? Absolutely, especially at that price point. It’s far more filling than buying a single piece of fried chicken for nearly the same price. Will it be my new daily go-to for lunch or dinner? Probably not. But if I’m craving KFC and only have RM10 in my pocket, this is definitely the move to stay full.

Have you tried it yet? Does the curry hit the spot for you, or is it a flavor overload? Let me know!
