Foodgasm: OREO X BTS

At this point, I think I've become somewhat of an Oreo collaboration collector. Every time they release a new limited edition or celebrity-inspired flavour, I'm always curious enough to give it a try. So when I finally got my hands on the BTS x Oreo Hotteok flavour, I couldn't wait to see where it ranked among my favourites.

If you've been following my snack reviews, you'll know I've previously tried the Lady Gaga Chromatica Oreo, the BLACKPINK Oreo, and most recently the BABYMONSTER Marshmallow Oreo. Out of all of them, the Lady Gaga edition has remained my number one. It had a unique flavour that actually felt different from the regular Oreo, while the BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER editions were enjoyable but didn't exactly reinvent the wheel.

So... where does BTS fit into all of this?

Inspired by Korea's Sweet Street Food

The BTS edition is inspired by Hotteok, a popular Korean street snack filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts. Instead of the classic chocolate filling, Oreo created a brown sugar pancake-inspired creme paired with vanilla creme between vibrant purple Oreo cookies.

The moment I took my first bite, I immediately understood why so many people were talking about it.

Unlike the BABYMONSTER Oreo, which I found overwhelmingly sweet, the sweetness here feels much more balanced. You get this warm brown sugar flavour that's reminiscent of pancakes drizzled with maple syrup, giving the cookies a comforting dessert-like taste.

That said, if you're expecting it to taste exactly like authentic Korean hotteok, you might be a little disappointed. I personally found it closer to an American pancake with maple syrup than the cinnamon-filled street snack it's inspired by.

My Ranking So Far

If I had to rank all the Oreo collaborations I've tried, it'd probably look something like this:

🥇 Lady Gaga Chromatica Oreo

🥈 BTS Hotteok Oreo

🥉 BLACKPINK Oreo

4️⃣ BABYMONSTER Marshmallow Oreo

The BTS edition definitely earns second place for me. It's creative, delicious, and actually feels like a different Oreo instead of simply changing the colour of the cream.

But... Lady Gaga still reigns supreme.

Maybe I'm a little biased because I'm a Little Monster, but I genuinely think the Chromatica Oreo had the most distinctive flavour profile. It wasn't overly sweet, the vanilla notes were beautifully balanced, and the whole collaboration just felt special.

Final Thoughts

The BTS Hotteok Oreo is easily one of the better limited-edition Oreos I've had. The brown sugar flavour works surprisingly well, the sweetness is much more controlled than some previous collaborations, and it's a fun twist on the classic Oreo formula.

Will it dethrone Lady Gaga's Chromatica Oreo in my heart?

Absolutely not.

But it's definitely worthy of the number two spot.

Have you tried the BTS Hotteok Oreo? And if you've tasted the other collaborations too, which one is your favourite?
