Attack 13 is a Thai horror film directed by Taweewat Wantha, best known for the Death Whisperer franchise. Set in a high school, the story follows Bussaba, a volleyball player and notorious schoolyard bully, who is found dead by hanging in the gym. But death is just the beginning. In a savage twist on the revenge ghost story, the bully becomes the vengeful spirit, forcing those she once tormented to confront the violence of their past and the unsettling truth that Bussaba’s cruelty doesn’t end with her death.

The movie started a little slow for me as it focused heavily on building up the audience’s hate for Bussaba. I assume the intention was to justify why she deserved what’s coming, and to be fair, it worked. I truly despised her. At one point, I even felt like jumping into the screen to stop her from bullying others. Then comes the twist: Bussaba dies and returns as a ghost. Imagine ruining lives while you’re alive and then continuing to haunt people when you’re dead, that’s what kids call a “Double Kill.” At this point, my hate turned into outright disgust.

And I also despised where this movie was headed. I’m not saying it’s a bad film, but personally, I don’t enjoy stories like this. Without spoiling too much, watch it and you’ll probably understand my frustration. That being said, the horror elements were strong—the kills were gory, the atmosphere tense, and while the humor was present, some of the jokes felt out of place and jarring.

And for a movie that is marketed as “bullying awareness” (especially here in Malaysia), I don’t think this is a good representation of that. If anything, I feel like this film could unintentionally encourage bullying rather than discourage it.

Overall, I’m giving Attack 13 a 6/10. The production value and execution are commendable, but the plot left me unsatisfied and uneasy in a way that doesn’t sit right.
