Avengers: Endgame (Encore) Experience: 7 Years Later, The Goosebumps Are Still Real
Seven years ago, back in April 2019, I walked out of the theater after watching Avengers: Endgame and called it an absolute masterclass in cinematic payoff. It was the ultimate, emotional culmination of 23 films in the Infinity Saga, delivering goosebumps, tears, and a legendary theatrical experience that concluded the saga so perfectly that Marvel didn't even need a post-credits scene.
Now, seven years later, Marvel Studios has brought the epic back to cinemas with Avengers: Endgame (Encore) and naturally, I had to experience it on the big screen all over again.
The Big Screen Magic Hasn't Faded One Bit
Let’s be completely real: this movie was built specifically to be experienced on the biggest screen possible.
Watching it again in 2026, I was genuinely surprised by how potent the magic still is. The moment the portal scene kicks in, the iconic battle assemble calls ring out, and Alan Silvestri’s theme swells, I got the exact same chills, the exact same adrenaline, and the exact same heart-pounding excitement I felt sitting in that packed theater back in 2019.
Even knowing every twist, beat, and line of dialogue by heart, the sheer scale of the film holds up impeccably. It reminds you why collective theatrical experiences are so special in the first place.
The New "Encore" Additions & The Cash Grab Reality
So, what makes this "Encore" edition different from the 2019 original?
Back then, the film famously ended cold with no post-credits scene, letting the emotional weight of Iron Man's sacrifice and Cap's dance linger. This new re-release adds a brand-new two-minute extended scene, along with fresh post-credits teases explicitly designed to bridge the gap and set the stage for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
Look, we all know what this project really is, it's an obvious cash-grab strategy by Marvel and Disney. Beyond building hype for the next era, it's a calculated move to push Endgame back over the line to reclaim its title as the highest-grossing movie of all time after Avatar briefly snatched the crown back. Sitting roughly $120 million short of the top spot, I honestly think they’ll achieve that number easily with this re-release.
Should You Watch It Again?
Is it a shameless studio push for box office records? Absolutely. But does it diminish how incredible the film feels on a massive cinema screen? Not even a little bit.
If you consider yourself a big MCU fan, or if you simply miss the unrivaled hype of peak Marvel theatrical events, do yourself a favor and go watch this on the big screen again. The goosebumps are guaranteed.
RATING: 10/10 (Event Experience): A blatant box-office strategy that nevertheless proves why Endgame remains an unbeatable cinematic event. The new Doomsday teases are fun, but the real thrill is re-experiencing the epic on the biggest screen possible.
