Dendam Malam Kelam is an Indonesian horror-thriller that follows Jefri and Sarah, a couple tangled in an affair who suddenly find themselves forced to craft the perfect alibi after Sofia & Jefri’s legal wife is murdered and her body mysteriously disappears. At first glance, from the trailer alone, I honestly thought this was going to be another typical Indonesian horror film. You know, the usual setup, the usual pacing. But I was wrong, pleasantly wrong.
This movie leans more into thriller territory than pure horror, and that’s what makes it stand out. The tension, the mind games, the shifting truth, everything feels sharp and intentionally crafted. The twist genuinely caught me by surprise, and I love how the film plays with your assumptions. Just when you’re confident you’ve figured out the whole picture… boom. It flips, and you’re wrong again.
It’s gripping, unpredictable, and surprisingly entertaining from start to finish. I’m giving this movie a 7/10 for its storyline, atmosphere, and the way it keeps you guessing until the very end.
