When I said I was thrilled this movie is finally here, I meant it with every inch of my horror-loving heart. I’ve been waiting for Final Destination: Bloodlines for over a decade, and to see it back on the big screen felt like a horror homecoming. Just like how the 70s had Halloween, the 80s had Friday the 13th, and the 90s had Scream, for us 2000s kids — Final Destination was it. It shaped our era of fear and fascination with death’s intricate designs.

Naturally, I didn’t just watch it once — I went back the next day for round two, because once just wasn’t enough. Right off the bat, the movie greets you with that familiar, twisted energy from the earlier installments. While the setup felt expected, it still managed to serve up fresh slices of death in new and creative ways. Some premonition scenes might’ve leaned on the lazy side, but they still made me squirm and wince — so job well done.

What really sets Bloodlines apart is the emotional center. This time, Death isn’t just picking off strangers; it’s targeting a family, and in the order of their age. That alone raised the stakes for me. Watching loved ones try to save each other, knowing what’s coming, adds a whole new layer of tragedy. I found myself rooting for every single one of them.

The kills? As wild and over-the-top as you'd expect, and that's the joy of it. Sometimes you’ll think, "no one would be that careless," but deep down, we know... maybe we would. That’s the uncomfortable truth Final Destination always exploits. The cast, while not Oscar bait, played their roles well enough for me to care and enjoy their screen time.

If there’s one thing I wish for, it’s a deeper connection to the earlier movies. Sure, there were easter eggs and references sprinkled throughout, but I wanted more — something that would tie all six films together with purpose. And maybe that’s coming. FD7 or FD8 could very well deliver that full-circle moment we’re craving.

Until then, Bloodlines is a gory, satisfying return — a gift to fans who’ve been waiting far too long. To my fellow gore-lovers: this one’s for you.

Rating: 9/10

Watched at: Biggest screen available in the cinema – because feeling death properly is part of the experience.
