Amelia had always loved stargazing. It was her escape, a ritual that made her feel small yet infinite. One quiet evening, while perched on the rooftop with her telescope, she noticed something odd: a star blinking rhythmically in a pattern she'd never seen before. She leaned closer, adjusting her telescope. The star wasn’t a star at all—it was a portal, shimmering with hues of pink and gold. Before she could fully process it, she felt a pull, and everything around her dissolved.

When she opened her eyes, Amelia found herself standing in a world that was both familiar and foreign. The sky was a gentle swirl of lavender, the air tinged with the scent of citrus and honey.

"Hey there," a voice startled her. She turned and saw someone who looked eerily like herself, but different—his eyes were a deeper shade of brown, his hair slightly wavier, his smile just as curious as hers.

“I’m Emil,” he introduced himself, extending a hand. “And you’re…?”

“Amelia,” she replied cautiously, shaking his hand. The warmth of his touch felt strangely familiar.

As days turned into weeks, Amelia and Emil became inseparable. They explored the mirrored universe together, discovering how their worlds were reflections of each other yet uniquely different. Where Amelia loved stargazing, Emil painted constellations on his bedroom ceiling. Where she was hesitant and cautious, Emil was bold and impulsive.

“I feel like I’ve known you forever,” Amelia confessed one evening as they sat by a river that flowed upward into the sky.

“Maybe we’re just meant to find each other,” Emil replied, his voice soft.

For the first time in her life, Amelia felt truly seen, not by another person but by herself—through Emil. He understood her quirks, her fears, her dreams. And she, in turn, saw pieces of him she hadn’t dared to accept in herself.

One day, while wandering through an ancient library filled with floating books, they stumbled upon a peculiar mirror framed with runes. As they peered into it, their reflections began to merge, distorting and swirling together like watercolors blending on a canvas.

“Amelia…” Emil whispered, his voice trembling. “I think we’re the same.”

The realization struck them both at once. They weren’t two separate souls—they were the same person, split across universes, each reflecting what the other needed to see. Emil was the adventurous side Amelia had buried; Amelia was the grounded presence Emil longed for.

As they gazed at their combined reflection, the mirror began to shimmer. A voice, soft yet powerful, echoed around them: “To truly love yourself, you must embrace all your facets—every version of you, in every universe.”

In that moment, Amelia and Emil smiled at each other, not with sadness but with understanding. The portal that had brought Amelia to this world reappeared, its golden hues calling her home.

“Thank you,” she said softly, touching Emil’s cheek. “For reminding me who I am.”

“And thank you,” Emil replied, his eyes glistening. “For helping me see the beauty in myself.”

With a final embrace, Amelia stepped through the portal, returning to her universe. She no longer felt the loneliness that had once gnawed at her. Instead, she carried Emil’s courage, his zest for life, and his unwavering belief that she was enough.

That night, as she lay beneath the stars, Amelia whispered to herself, “I love you. All of you.”

And for the first time, she truly meant it.
