All-Stars 11 Rucap: Bracket 1 Kicks Off with a Double Dose of Drama!
Finally, All-Stars 11 is here! Just like last year, we were treated to a double premiere, but let’s address the elephant in the room: this bracket format. While I'm not complaining about more drag, seeing the Bracket 1 queens for two weeks only to have the top two disappear until the semi-finals in seven weeks feels… off. Personally, I think this should be the last season for this format. Let’s go back to the classic All-Stars 2–4 style! That said, I’m still a fan of the Lip Sync Assassin twist because it’s the best way to get even more of our favorites back on screen.
Episode 1: The Girl Group Gamble
The season swung out of the gate with the Girl Group Challenge. The queens had to write verses, style their looks, and perform. Now, All-Stars 10 is a tough act to follow and, collectively, I think AS10 still holds the crown for the better performance. However, AS11 held its own!
The Tops: I’m totally aligned with the judges—my Top 3 were Dawn, Morphine, and Morgan.
The Runway: We celebrated icon La Toya Jackson with the "La Toya’s R Us" runway. It felt a bit weird they didn't just call it "Night of 1,000 La Toyas" like usual, but Dawn and A’Keria absolutely ate the category.
The Lip Sync: Dawn and Morgan faced off to La Toya’s "Such a Wicked Love." Morgan absolutely killed it, securing the win and ending the night with 3 points, leaving Dawn in second with 2.
Episode 2: Design, Drama, and "Fergalicious" Flops
Before the second challenge even started, the MVQ points from the bottom four shifted the leaderboard, putting everyone on the board with at least 1 point. Then, we moved into a Design Challenge inspired by iconic queer bars.
The Tea: Can we talk about the tension between Dawn and Morphine? Morphine wanted the Piano Bar materials, but Dawn snatched them right up. Sisterhood? I don’t know her!
The Creations: Kate Hudson joined the panel as the queens turned out couture. My personal Top 3 were Dawn, A’Keria, and Lucky—all three really showed their true drag essence.
The Lip Sync: Ru named Dawn and A’Keria the Top 2, lip-syncing to "Fergalicious" by Fergie. This should have been the lip sync of the season, but they cut the rap part?! Brick! It was underwhelming, and honestly, neither queen really did the song justice. A’Keria took the win, bringing her to a tie for the lead.
The Current Scoreboard:
A’Keria C. Davenport: 4 Points
Dawn: 4 Points
Morgan McMichaels: 3 Points
Morphine Love Dion: 1 Point
Mystique Summers: 1 Point
Lucky Starzzz: 1 Point
Final Thoughts
Next week is the final stand for Bracket 1 with a Spooky Ads Challenge! I’m dying to see which two queens actually secure those semi-final spots.
What do you guys think about All-Stars 11 so far? Is the bracket format growing on you, or are you ready to go back to basics? Let’s discuss!
