Drag Race All Stars 11: Bracket 1 Concludes, But Has the Tournament Format Already Failed?

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 11, Episode 3 ("Shop Til U Drop") officially brought Bracket 1 to a close. While the "Home Spooky Network" horror infomercial challenge delivered plenty of cute, campy moments, the chaotic finale left a sour taste in many fans' mouths. In fact, it might be time to officially declare that this experimental tournament format needs to go.

Here is a breakdown of why Episode 3 proved the current format is trash, and why we desperately need the classic All Stars rules back.

The Tiebreaker Robbery: Morgan vs. A'Keria

The biggest controversy of the night came down to the final scoreboard. With Dawn cruising to the semi-finals with 8 points, A'Keria C. Davenport and Morgan McMichaels were left deadlocked at 7 points each.

Instead of letting the queens plead their cases or battle it out in a sudden-death lip sync, RuPaul stepped in as the ultimate tiebreaker. Ru stated she chose A'Keria based on "overall performance across the bracket."

Let’s look at the math, because it simply doesn't make sense:

  • Morgan McMichaels: Won 2 challenges across the three episodes.

  • A'Keria C. Davenport: Won 1 challenge.

If A'Keria truly performed better across the bracket, wouldn't she have won the challenges that Morgan won? Ru's arbitrary decision felt incredibly unfair. While no one is mad to see a powerhouse like A'Keria advance, bypassing a logical competitive track record like Morgan's proves this format values production whims over actual challenge wins.

Predictable Storylines and Judging Missteps

Beyond the final bracket ruling, the judging for the Maxi Challenge felt heavily orchestrated. Production tried a bit too hard to recreate Irene The Alien's infamous "porkchop" storyline with Dawn. It felt highly predictable and lacked authenticity.

Furthermore, the Top 2 placements of the week felt off. The episode truly belonged to Morgan and A'Keria. They showed masterclass chemistry, playing off one another flawlessly in their infomercial. On the other hand, Dawn’s group dynamic felt uneven; Morphine Love Dion was mostly riding Dawn's coattails, and the remaining two queens failed to register any real impact. Morgan and A'Keria deserved the win, which would have naturally solved the tiebreaker crisis before it even started.

Final Thoughts: Bring Back the Classic Format

As we head into Bracket 2, the excitement for the rest of the season has drastically plummeted. Watching queens fight through a complex point system, only for production to bypass the math with a sudden executive decision, ruins the competitive spirit of the show.

All Stars 11 needs to be the absolute last time we see this tournament style. Drag Race thrives on high stakes, lipstick-voting drama, and clear-cut victories. Let's hope producers hear the fandom loud and clear: Bring back the previous All Stars format.
