If you're craving a Thai twist on bingsu, look no further than Cheevit Cheeva, the famed bingsu café that offers a creative fusion of traditional Thai flavors. From mango sticky rice to Thai tea, each dish promises a unique spin, but the real star of my experience? The Sangkaya Bingsu.
The sangkaya option combines the fluffy, shaved iced milk with toasted bread chunks and a rich pandan-flavored custard, creating a harmony of textures and flavors. The smoothness of the custard pairs beautifully with the light ice and crunchy bread, making each bite something truly special. I couldn’t get enough of it! Honestly, I was tempted to order a second bowl—but at this price point, a second round would be a luxury treat.
I also tried the classic Mango Sticky Rice, which, unfortunately, didn’t live up to the same standard. Serving the mango with the skin on was a bold choice, but it made scooping the flesh quite challenging. Plus, the mango was a bit on the sour side, not fully ripe, which took away from the dessert's sweetness and impact. It was an unexpected contrast, and one that I hope they revisit to truly capture the magic of mango sticky rice.
Will I return? Definitely! There are still flavors I want to explore, though maybe I’ll wait until my next paycheck. If you stop by, I highly recommend the sangkaya bingsu—it’s an experience you won’t forget.
