Saying that I’m a huge fan of cheese and steak is an absolute understatement. I am the self-proclaimed No. 1 Cheese & Steak fan! So naturally, when Domino’s announced their new Cheese & Steak Pizza, I was beyond hyped. A classic Philly cheesesteak flavor profile turned into a pizza? Sign me up immediately!
However, the second the box opened and I took my first few bites, one massive question popped into my head:
...Where is the steak?
Did Domino's mean they’re using the cheese sauce inspired by a cheese & steak sandwich for the base, or was there supposed to be actual steak meat on this pizza? Because again where is the steak?!
Beef Strips vs. Chicken: The Flavor Breakdown
I decided to try both the beef and chicken versions of the Cheese & Steak Pizza, hoping that the beef option would deliver that hearty, juicy steak bite I was craving.
Here’s how it actually played out:
The Beef Version: Unfortunately, the beef strips were pretty underwhelming. Instead of tender, savory steak bites, they felt a bit lost under the cheese and toppings. It didn't give me that bold "steakhouse" bite I was hoping for.
The Cheese Component: It’s not all bad news, though! If there’s one thing Domino's got right, it’s the cheese part. The cheese sauce and melted cheese blend were rich, savory, and super comforting.
If this was marketed simply as a "Cheesy Garlic & Beef Pizza," I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more. But given that "Steak" is literally in the name, I went in expecting actual steak texture and flavor and it fell pretty short on that promise.
Manifesting the Return of Samyang Samjeang! 🌶️
While this Cheese & Steak run was a bit of a letdown, it honestly just made me miss one of Domino's absolute greatest hits of all time: The Samyang Samjeang Pizza series!
That sweet, smoky, fire-breathing spicy Samjeang sauce on a crispy pizza crust with melted cheese was an absolute masterclass in fast-food fusion. I am officially putting it out into the universe right now, Domino’s, please bring the Samjeang series back! My tastebuds are ready.

If you're going into this just wanting a super cheesy, savory pizza night, it's decent. But if you're a hardcore Philly cheesesteak lover expecting real steak vibes, you might end up asking the exact same question I did!
