If you're someone who loves trying quirky and unexpected flavors at the cinema, you might be intrigued by GSC's Double Trouble Popcorn. When I saw the promotion, I was excited to give it a try, expecting something fun and unique. Here's my experience with this wild, flavor-packed snack and whether it's worth the hype.
A Mysterious Flavor Combo
I'll be honest: I wasn't entirely sure what flavors to expect. Based on my taste buds, it seems like the popcorn had a sour grape twist to it. The purple popcorn had a delightful mix of grape and bubblegum flavors, which I really enjoyed. It had a nostalgic sweetness that brought back memories of childhood treats.
Then, there was the green popcorn. This one took me by surprise—it was incredibly sour, almost acidic, but not in a citrusy way. It felt like my mouth was melting as I ate it! Eating the green popcorn by itself was a challenge, but when I combined it with the purple popcorn, the flavors balanced out and became much more enjoyable. Still, I wouldn't recommend tackling the green popcorn solo unless you're a fan of intense sourness.
Unique Texture but Nothing Special
While the flavors were quite the adventure, the texture wasn't something to write home about. It was definitely different from the usual cinema popcorn, but it didn’t stand out in terms of crunch or freshness. If you're looking for something texturally extraordinary, this popcorn might not be the one for you.
Disappointment with the Packaging
One of the biggest letdowns for me was the packaging. The popcorn was supposed to come in this cool Joker Folie à Deux box featuring Joker and Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn, which would have added to the whole experience. Unfortunately, they swapped it out for a regular box, which took away some of the excitement. I was really looking forward to the themed packaging as it would’ve made the experience more memorable, especially for a Little Monster like me.
Would I Buy It Again?
While the Double Trouble Popcorn was an interesting experience, it’s not a flavor I’d go back to. The purple popcorn had some charm, but the sourness of the green popcorn was a bit too much for my taste. I can’t help but compare it to the Bubblegum popcorn I once had at TGV, which remains one of the best-flavored popcorns I've ever tried.
Final Thoughts
If you're feeling adventurous and want to try something outside of the traditional sweet or salty popcorn flavors, give the Double Trouble Popcorn a go. Just be warned: the green popcorn is not for the faint-hearted! However, if you're after a more balanced and enjoyable snack, you might want to pass on this one.
Rating: 5/10 – Fun to try, but not a flavor I'll be craving again.
