Foodgasm: Dozo Tori Kimuchi Ishiyaki Don

I’ll be honest — when it comes to Japanese food, I’m a loyal Sushi Zanmai kind of diner. It’s affordable, tasty, and safe. I never really felt the need to explore beyond that… until this week. And when I say “this week,” I mean I went to Dozo Platinum Arena three times in the span of a few days. Not because I was craving Japanese food, but because my colleagues wanted to treat me — and let’s be real, there’s not much else around this area within walking distance.
So Dozo it was.
First Time, Then Two More
Since I was there multiple times, I obviously tried different things. From rice sets to grilled dishes, it was a decent mix. But out of everything I had, one dish stood out to me hard — the Tori Kimuchi Ishiyaki Don.
Or if you want it in plain English: stir-fried chicken with kimchi on a sizzling hot stone bowl of rice.
The Dish That Surprised Me
Now here’s the twist — I usually go for beef over chicken any day. In fact, I had the stir-fried beef rice bowl the day before, and while it was alright, it didn’t leave much of an impression.
But this chicken and kimchi combo? It made so much sense.

The kimchi brought just the right amount of heat and tang, balanced with the stir-fried veggies, and the chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. Not overly salty like the beef version. The spice level? I’d call it moderate — enough to feel the heat, but not enough to make you cry. What did make me cry, though, was how lava-hot the stone bowl was. I legit almost burnt my tongue. 😂
So, note to self: let it cool down for a bit before digging in like a maniac.
Final Thoughts
If I ever find myself back at Dozo Platinum Arena in the future (or more realistically, if I run out of lunch options again), the Tori Kimuchi Ishiyaki Don is definitely what I’ll order. It’s comforting, spicy, and honestly way better than I expected.
For anyone working or passing through the Platinum Arena area looking for a decent Japanese lunch spot, Dozo’s your best bet within walking distance — and this dish might just be your new fave too.
