McDonald’s Malaysia has launched the Triple Kick Burger™ as part of its limited-time FIFA World Cup 2026 celebration. This special menu item features a "hat-trick" of three different onion preparations: crispy onion twigs, caramelized onions, and fresh onions. It is available with either a grilled beef patty or crispy chicken and is served alongside the new McFizz™ Salted Pineapple—a refreshing blend of pineapple and Sprite®.

Okay, as always, I'm here to try all the limited-time menus from these fast-food chains, but no one is doing it quite like McDonald’s. They’ve been dropping new limited releases every other month, and this month—in conjunction with the World Cup 2026—they’ve introduced the World Cup Meal featuring the Triple Kick Burger. As the name suggests, the "triple kick" refers to the three-way onions that are meant to be the star of the show: Fresh Cut Onions, Caramelized Onions, and Onion Rings.
It sounds like a delicious concept, and honestly, it looks great too. But once you dive in, it’s just a total flavor overload. Each of these three onion styles has such a bold and competing profile: the fresh-cut onions add a pungent, sharp tang, the caramelized onions bring a smoky sweetness, and the onion rings provide a hit of spice. When you combine those with the standard pickles, ketchup, and mayo, it becomes chaotic. I couldn't even taste the beef patty anymore; the flavors were all over the place rather than being well-balanced or harmonious.
However, the absolute highlight of this meal is the Salted Pineapple McFizz. Oooo, that drink is a game-changer! Who knew that salted pineapple could taste so incredibly refreshing? It’s the perfect blend of sweet and salty. My final verdict? I might just come back exclusively for the drink. The burger itself is a "hard pass" for me due to the overwhelming flavors, though I do have to appreciate the portion—this thing is absolutely huge.
