Forget about everything else for a second. If you ask me what’s the one thing I look forward to most on Raya morning (besides the Duit Raya, of course!), it has to be my Ultimate Raya Food Combo.
Korang pun tau kan, pagi raya ni macam-macam ada. Lemang, rendang, ketupat palas... but for me, nothing beats this specific trio: Nasi Impit + Kuah Lodeh (extra tempe!) + Sambal Sotong. Pergh, seriously heaven on a plate!
The Star of the Show: Kuah Lodeh Extra Tempe
I’m very picky about my Kuah Lodeh. It has to be creamy, berlemak, and full of sayur-sayuran. But the real game-changer? Extra tempe. I don’t know why, tapi kalau tempe tu dah menyerap kuah lodeh yang kuning pekat tu, rasa dia chef's kiss 🤌✨. It adds that nutty texture yang buat I tambah nasi impit berkali-kali.
The Kick: Sambal Sotong
To balance out the lemak of the lodeh, you need that spicy kick. That’s where the Sambal Sotong comes in. It has to be that kind of sambal yang dah pecah minyak elok, pedas-pedas manis, and the sotong has to be tender. Bila mix sekali dengan kuah lodeh tu... ya Allah, the explosion of flavors is just next level.
Vibe Pagi Raya
Duduk depan meja dengan Mak and adik-beradik, masing-masing pegang pinggan, berebut nak sauk sambal sotong dulu—that’s the highlight of my morning. Even though we’re all grown up and beraya asing-asing now, this food combo is what connects me back to home. Every bite reminds me of the noise, the laughter, and the "siapa habiskan sambal?!" drama we used to have.
Honestly, tak kisah la berapa banyak open house I pergi later on, this trio will always be the winner in my heart (and my stomach!).
