It has been five years since we boarded the spaceship and flew to Planet Chromatica, a place where pain and joy coexisted in harmony. But on March 7, 2025, the citizens of Planet Chromatica evacuated following the emergence of an entity called Mayhem. And with that, we officially entered a new era of Mother Monster’s artistry.
Yes, Mayhem is finally upon us, and I couldn't be happier! This album rollout has been nothing short of perfection, and Gaga has been feeding us well. Not to mention, we finally get to listen to Shadow of a Man, a track that was teased almost a year ago at the end of The Chromatica Ball. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the tracklist and see how I feel about each song.
1. Disease
This is such a powerful opening to the album. It sets the tone perfectly for what’s to come. The production is loud, grand, and unapologetically Gaga. And can we talk about her lyricism? Absolutely stunning. A solid 10/10.
2. Abracadabra
This song is a beast! A cultural reset, if you will. The production and lyrics are reminiscent of Bad Romance, yet fresh and innovative. This is destined to be a dancefloor classic. Trust me on this one. 10/10.
3. Garden of Eden
This song just makes me want to dance. Whatever magic she put into this track, it worked. No wonder it’s the official theme song for this season’s Formula 1! High-energy and euphoric, this is another 10/10.
4. Perfect Celebrity
Are you kidding me with this song? What is Gaga trying to prove? She’s already the GOAT, and then she gives us this masterpiece? The production, the vocals—pure perfection. 10/10, PERIOD.
5. Vanish Into You
A sweet song with a sick beat. This is giving The Fame era realness, and I love it. There’s something about this song that reminds me of Summerboy, and I could totally cry if I vanish into it (pun intended). 10/10.
6. Killah (feat Gesaffelstein)
Okay, let me be real. I love everything Gaga does, but I was a little underwhelmed when I first heard this track. Given that Gesaffelstein worked on it, I expected something harder-hitting. But after a second listen, I got it. This one is a grower, not a shower. 10/10 and now a fave.
7. Zombieboy
I knew this song would be my favorite when the tracklist dropped months ago, and I was right! The 80s-inspired beat is chef’s kiss. Gaga, please make this a single. I need a music video! 10/10.
8. LoveDrug
This song takes me back to her early work but with more refinement and depth. It’s everything I love about Gaga’s songwriting, and it’s executed flawlessly. 10/10.
9. How Bad Do You Want Me
Some people say this gives them Taylor Swift vibes, but I don’t see it. To me, this feels like an unreleased gem from Gaga’s vault, polished and brought to life. It’s effortlessly enjoyable. 10/10.
10. Don’t Call Tonight
This song is just cute. Maybe it reminds me of an old relationship (joking, joking… or am I?). Either way, production and writing-wise, it’s flawless. Gaga never misses. 10/10.
11. Shadow of a Man
It’s giving Michael Jackson realness, and I know for a fact that was intentional. The little dance move Gaga did at the end of The Chromatica Ball was foreshadowing this moment, wasn’t it? Mother ate. 10/10.
12. The Beast
From this point in the album, I found myself deep in my emotions. Gaga, why are you making me cry? A song about a werewolf? It’s dark, it’s sexy, it’s dangerous. I’m obsessed. 10/10.
13. Blade of Grass
Knowing the backstory of this song makes it even more meaningful. The fact that Father Monster proposed to Mother Monster using a blade of grass as a ring? I’m emotional. This touching ballad is nothing less than a 10.
14. Die With a Smile (feat. Bruno Mars)
Grammy-winning song? Absolutely. Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga together is a match made in music heaven. Their vocals blend seamlessly, and the world is shooketh. 10/10.
I have yet to listen to the two bonus tracks, Kill For Love and Can’t Stop The High, but word on the street is that Can’t Stop The High might be even better than Perfect Celebrity. If that’s true, I might just get slapped out of this world when I hear it.
Overall, Mayhem is a 10/10 no-skip album for me. Am I biased? Maybe. But can you blame me for stanning a queen who consistently delivers amazing music? Exactly. My taste is just that good!
Enjoy, and let the Mayhem take over!
