RPDR 17: Episode 2 Rucap

The remaining seven queens stepped up this week to showcase their talents, aiming to dazzle the judges and make their mark. With Lawrence Chaney making a brief cameo (hinting at a possible All Winners 2), the excitement was amplified. This episode brought jaw-dropping moments, a creative runway theme, and an unexpected twist that’s sure to get fans talking. Plus, Doechii graced the panel as the guest judge, bringing her star power and sharp critiques to the mix.

Initial Favorites:

My pre-episode favorites were Lexi Love and Sam Star, and they didn’t disappoint! Lexi’s roller-skating talent show performance and commanding lip sync were unforgettable. Sam Star also had a great showing, though her runway left me wanting a bit more.

Runway Highlights:

This week’s runway theme, "Is it cake?" had the queens highlighting their “cakes” (pun intended) with cheeky, bold looks. Here are my top picks:

Lana Ja’Rae: Sleek, sexy, and with an ass reveal that proves less can be more.

Arrietty: The clean execution of her jeweled look (complete with a bejeweled asshole!) was both hilarious and impressive.

Lydia B Kollins: Living up to her name, her spiky, ingenious design made her the clear category standout.

Sam Star: A solid concept that fell slightly short due to the gown’s length.

Talent Show Highlights:

This week’s performances were a mixed bag, but Lexi Love stole the spotlight. Pulling off five splits on roller skates? That’s what it means to be a drag powerhouse! The second top contender was Crystal Envy, who delivered a polished performance, though Sam Star made a strong case for herself as well.

Guest Judge & Lip Sync:

Doechii joined the judging panel this week and was the perfect addition. Her sharp eye and playful energy added an extra layer of fun to the critiques. The top two queens, Lexi Love and Crystal Envy, lip-synced to Doechii’s own Alter Ego—a certified banger from 2024. Lexi’s years of performance experience shone through, securing her the win.

The bottom two queens, Hormona Lisa and Acacia Forgot, faced off in a lip sync to Ariana Grande’s Yes, And? It was decent, though not particularly memorable. Acacia was declared the winner, leaving Hormona Lisa in jeopardy.

Twist:

Just as it seemed Hormona Lisa would be sashaying away, Ru introduced the season’s twist: The Badonk Ka Dunk Twist. Queens who lose the lip sync get one last chance to pull the right lever and dunk Michelle Visage into a tank. Hormona pulled the right lever, earning her stay in the competition.

While the twist feels reminiscent of the infamous “It’s Chocolate” gag from Season 14, it does add a layer of unpredictability to the eliminations. Whether it sticks or flops remains to be seen.

Final Thoughts:

This week kept the energy high, and Lexi Love proved she’s one to watch. Doechii’s presence on the judging panel elevated the episode, and the Badonk Ka Dunk Twist adds some fun chaos to the competition. With Episode 3’s design challenge on the horizon, I can’t wait to see if the queens can live up to the iconic designs of queens like Nymphia and Q from last season.

What did you think of the Badonk Ka Dunk Twist? Is it an exciting addition or a tired gimmick? And how do you feel about Doechii as a guest judge? Drop your thoughts below!
