RPDR 17: Episode 4 Rucap

Writer's picture: Faiz FaisalFaiz Faisal

13 queens remain, but tensions are already high as the competition truly sinks in. These queens are going for each other’s throats—and honestly, I’m here for it. The shade, the reads, and the drama are everything you’d expect and more.

Initial Favorites

Going into this episode, my pre-episode favorites were Sam Star and Lexi Love. Both queens have consistently shown their star power, with Sam dominating the runways and Lexi bringing undeniable polish. However, this week, Crystal Envy came out of nowhere and completely surprised me.

Maxi Challenge: "Bitch, I’m a Drag Queen"

For this week’s challenge, the queens were tasked with creating commercials for the compilation albums “Bitch, I’m a Drag Queen” Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, inspired by iconic Drag Race moments. They were split into two groups:

Vol. 1

  • Lana Ja'Rae & Lydia B. Kollins (Mystique vs. Morgan McMichaels)

  • Jewels Sparkles & Arrietty (Alyssa Edwards vs. Jade Jolie)

  • Joella (Mariah Paris Balenciaga)

  • Hormona Lisa (Shannel)

  • Crystal Envy (Latrice Royale)

Vol. 2

  • Suzie Toot (Aja)

  • Sam Star & Acacia Forgot (Kandy Muse vs. Tamisha Iman)

  • Lexi Love (Jasmine Kennedie)

  • Onya Nurve (Laganja Estranja)

  • Kori King (Kennedy Davenport)

Personally, the Vol. 1 group nailed it for me. They had consistent performances across the board, and everyone seemed to complement each other. On the other hand, Vol. 2 had some standout moments, but the group dynamic felt uneven, with one or two queens stealing the spotlight and another crashing and burning hard.

Runway: Quilted for Your Pleasure

This week’s runway category was “Quilted for Your Pleasure,” and honey, the queens gave us padded perfection. My Top 4 looks were:

  • Crystal Envy – Her Met Gala-inspired red bodysuit and dress combo was jaw-dropping. That color, that silhouette—chef’s kiss.

  • Lexi Love – A stunning black ensemble crafted by none other than Utica Queen herself. It was sophisticated, expensive-looking, and oh-so-polished.

  • Lydia B. Kollins – A love-it-or-hate-it look, but I loved it! It was quirky, conceptual, and surprisingly beautiful.

  • Sam Star – Immaculate from head to toe. She paid attention to every detail, and that headpiece? Obsessed.

Challenge Winner: Onya Nurve

Onya snatched the win this week, and while I’m okay with it, I can’t help but feel like Crystal Envy was robbed. Crystal managed to shine despite being in a group setting, which isn’t easy. Onya, being solo, had the advantage of standing out by default. But hey, a win is a win.

Bottom Two & Lip Sync

The bottom two queens this week were Kori King and Joella. They lip-synced to “Buttons” by the Pussycat Dolls, which is a killer song for a drag lip sync. Unfortunately, the performance didn’t live up to the song’s potential. I was expecting sultry, sexy energy, but both queens felt a little flat.

In the end, Joella was eliminated. But before she left, she pulled the lever for the Badonkadunk Tank. Let’s just say luck wasn’t on her side this time—splash!

Next Episode

With 12 queens remaining, next week’s challenge is RDR Live, and it’s bound to be filled with even more chaos, drama, and iconic moments. I can’t wait to see who rises to the occasion and who crashes under the pressure.

Final Thoughts

This episode had its ups and downs, but one thing is clear—Crystal Envy completely surprised me. She proved herself to be a serious contender, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the top. Right now, I’d consider Crystal, Lexi, Onya, Sam, and Suzie to be the front runners of the season.

Crystal’s performance this week, combined with her stunning runway, has cemented her as one to watch. What do you think? Will she keep up this momentum, or will someone else snatch the spotlight next week? Let me know your thoughts! 👑
