RPDR 17: Episode 7 Rucap

Writer's picture: Faiz FaisalFaiz Faisal

I was absolutely gagged by this week's episode! But before we dive in, can we talk about how there are still so many queens left after seven episodes? It’s giving marathon, not sprint.

This week, the queens tackled the legendary Snatch Game, one of the Big 4 challenges that can cement a queen's legacy in Drag Race herstory—alongside the Ball Challenge, the Rusical, and the Makeover Challenge.

Snatch Game Characters:

Acacia Forgot - Trisha Paytas

Lexi Love - Gilbert Gottfried

Suzie Toot - Ellen Greene

Sam Star - Kim Gravel

Lana Ja'Rae - Rosa Parks

Onya Nurve - Eddie Murphy

Arrietty - Cupid

Lydia B. Kollins - David Lynch

Jewels Sparkles - Miss Big Feet (Big Foot)

Crystal Envy - Nicole Richie

Kori King - Big Ang

Honestly, this season’s Snatch Game was just okay. There weren’t many standout moments, but those who did well really did well. The rest? Meh. The queens that caught my attention were Onya and Jewels.

Runway - Nailed It

The runway theme was "Nailed It," which I think might be inspired by Symone’s red nail-covered finale look. Here are my top 3 of the night:

Suzie Toot – Genius! This look hit both interpretations of nails—fingernails and the pointy metal kind. She literally turned herself into a torture chamber. I loved it!

Crystal Envy – A fun, creative look, though at first I thought she was a Neanderthal instead of a werewolf. Not the most glamorous outfit, but definitely a clever take on the theme.

Jewels Sparkles – This gave me Edward Scissorhands meets Lady Gaga’s Chromatica claws. It was clean, edgy, and exactly what I expected from Jewels.

Snatch Game Standouts

I agree with the top placements of the week: Sam Star, Jewels Sparkles, and Onya Nurve. But adding Lexi as an "honorable mention" for being a funny flop? That doesn’t sit right with me. Yes, it was funny to watch her struggle, but was she actually delivering the challenge? Not really. The judges were laughing at Lexi, not her character, which is a major difference.

The Bottoms

I have some issues with the bottom placements. Yes, Crystal didn’t get many laughs, but neither did Arrietty or Lydia. I genuinely thought Crystal’s runway might have saved her, yet she still landed in the bottom two alongside Lana.

Lip Sync For Your Life

Both queens did okay, but I personally found Crystal more entertaining. Given her overall track record, she should’ve stayed. Eliminating someone for one bad week just doesn’t sit right with me. But alas, what’s done is done.

Next Week: The Wizard of Oz Rusical!

I cannot wait to see how the queens handle this Rusical challenge! Fingers crossed for Jewels Sparkles to shine because she deserves it.

What did you think of this week’s episode? Who were your Snatch Game standouts and do you agree with the eliminations?
