Roasting Drag Race Royalty: Alyssa Edwards
We’re already 11 episodes into Season 18 and somehow we still haven’t reached the Top 5. Meanwhile, RuPaul's Drag Race UK vs the World is already crowning its winner this week. I’m not complaining because more episodes mean more drag, but maybe we should limit non-elimination episodes to just one per season.
Anyway, let’s get into the episode.
Werkroom After the Non-Elimination
The queens return to the werkroom fresh from last week’s non-elimination. Naturally, all eyes were on Discord Addams since almost every queen in the room said she should’ve gone home.
But Discord? Completely unbothered.
The only thing she took away from the runway critiques was Iman telling her she could be a designer. And honestly? That level of delusion and confidence might be exactly what you need to survive this competition.
Mini Challenge: Scentbird Video
For this week’s mini challenge, RuPaul tasked the queens with creating a short, fun promotional video for Scentbird.
Quick, chaotic, and very Drag Race.
🏆 Myki Meeks won the mini challenge and earned an important advantage for the maxi challenge.
Maxi Challenge: Roast of Alyssa Edwards
This week’s main challenge was a roast dedicated to Drag Race royalty: Alyssa Edwards.
And honestly, if there’s one queen deserving of a roast, it’s Alyssa. She’s arguably one of the most memeable queens in Drag Race history. Her catchphrases have lived on across seasons and even in international franchises. People are still quoting her.
Because Myki won the mini challenge, she got to decide the roast order, which is always strategic since going first or last can make a huge difference.
Roast Order
Discord Addams
Jane Don’t
Juicy Love Dion
Darlene Mitchell
Nini Coco
Kenya Pleaser
Myki Meeks
Before the roast, the queens sat down with Michelle Visage and guest judge Atsuko Okatsuka to workshop their jokes.
Some queens were nervous.
Darlene and Juicy admitted they didn’t think they were the funniest people in the room. Meanwhile, Nini worried that her jokes might come across as mean rather than funny.
Roast Performances
Right from the start, Jane Don’t and Myki Meeks came out strong with confident and polished sets.
But the biggest surprise of the night?
Darlene Mitchell.
She started a little shaky, but then she completely pivoted. Once she realized the room needed more energy, she went full chaos mode with props and physical comedy—and it worked. The judges were living.
My Top 3 Roast Performances
Darlene Mitchell
Jane Don’t
Myki Meeks
Runway Category: Swept Away
For the runway, the queens had to present looks that would dramatically move when hit by a giant fan at the end of the runway.
And honestly, the fan added some great theatrical moments.
My Top 3 Runway Looks
1. Nini Coco
A grieving widow scattering her husband’s ashes on a windy day? Dark, theatrical, and campy. I loved it.
2. Myki Meeks
Very Cher-coded. The sorbet color palette looked gorgeous on Myki.
3. Discord Addams
The concept was strong, but the execution could’ve been better. If she used lighter and longer fabrics to mimic flames, it could’ve been a home run.
The Results
🏆 Winner: Darlene Mitchell
This win felt long overdue. Darlene has been consistently strong throughout the competition, so it was nice to finally see her get her flowers.
Bottom Two:
Juicy Love Dion
Kenya Pleaser
They lip synced to Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler.
And honestly? The moment was dramatic. The runway fan was still on, so the flowing fabrics during the chorus made everything look even more intense.
Juicy ultimately won the lip sync.
Which means Kenya Pleaser sashayed away.
Top 6 Remaining Queens
We’re finally down to six queens, but my Top 4 prediction still hasn’t changed:
Darlene Mitchell
Jane Don’t
Nini Coco
Myki Meeks
They still feel like the most well-rounded contenders for the crown.
Next Week
Next week is the Makeover Challenge, and the queens will be transforming cowboys into members of their drag family.
Makeover episodes are always unpredictable, so this could shake up the competition.
And honestly? I can’t wait to see what these queens do with a bunch of cowboys.
