Girl Groups, Genres & Team Picking Chaos

As the top two queens from the premiere, Nini Coco and Vita VonTesse Starr were given the power to choose their own teams. But before that, Ru revealed a twist: the queens would be split into three girl groups, each performing a different genre — Disco, Pop, and Punk Rock.

And in Vita’s own words, the queens who weren’t picked?

✨ The leftover dolls would automatically become a group. ✨

Cold. Efficient. Slightly shady.

Here’s how the teams shook out:

Team Nini Coco

Mia Star

Myki Meeks

Ciara Myst

Kenya Pleaser

Team Vita VonTesse Starr

Briar Blush

Juicy Love Dion

Discord Addams

Jane Don’t

The Leftover Dolls

Athena Dion

Darlene Mitchell

Mandy Mango

DD Fuego

The Song Selection Battle

When it came time to choose songs, everyone wanted Disco — because obviously. Team Nini quickly bowed out and took Pop, leaving Team Vita and The Leftover Dolls in a standoff.

After some back-and-forth, Vita made the bold move of choosing Punk Rock, handing Disco to the Leftover Dolls. A risky decision, but one that definitely paid off.

Maxi Challenge: Girl Group Performances

Honestly? Everyone did pretty well. No one completely flopped, which made judging even more interesting.

That said, Team Vita absolutely stole the show for me. They felt confident, cohesive, and fully committed to the genre. Team Nini followed closely behind — polished and fun, with strong individual performances.

The Leftover Dolls, however, struggled with one key thing: group cohesion. Individually, they’re all solid queens. But this is a girl group challenge, and they felt more like four solo acts sharing a stage. The energy was off, the looks weren’t aligned, and it showed.

So yes — I agree with the judges. Their group deserved the bottom placement.

Runway: “Favorite Part of Me”

I don’t quite remember the official name of the runway theme, but the concept was clear — the queens had to highlight their favorite part of themselves.

My Top 3 runway looks this week:

Briar Blush

A brilliant concept — almost entirely dressed in black, revealing only her favorite part: her finger. Minimal, clever, and very editorial.

Juicy Love Dion

Clean, striking, and effective. An all-red look with just her left leg exposed, clearly spotlighting her favorite feature. Simple concept, executed beautifully.

Ciara Myst

Eyes everywhere — on her titties and as a headpiece. There was no missing the message here: her eyes are her favorite part, and she made sure we remembered them.

Tops & Bottoms of the Week

The Top 2 queens of Episode 2 were Mia Star and Jane Don’t, and honestly? I’m not mad at it at all. Both delivered strong verses, great stage presence, and felt completely in control.

The bottom group consisted of:

Athena Dion

Darlene Mitchell

Mandy Mango

DD Fuego

Thanks to stronger runway presentations, Athena and Darlene were saved, leaving Mandy Mango and DD Fuego as the bottom two.

Lip Sync: “Too Much” by Dove Cameron

The bottom two lip-synced to “Too Much” by guest judge Dove Cameron — and can we just pause for a moment to appreciate how stunning Dove looked? Absolute Disney-princess-meets-pop-star perfection.

As for the performance, Mandy Mango was doing “too much” — in the best way possible. She understood the song, the energy, and sold every beat. DD Fuego put up a fight, but Mandy clearly wanted it more.

In the end, Mandy Mango stayed, and DD Fuego sashayed away, becoming the first eliminated queen of Season 18.

Final Thoughts

Next week, the queens face an impromptu acting challenge in the fan-favorite RDR Live, and I already know the chaos will be delicious.

My Top 4 after Episode 2 remain unchanged:

Juicy Love Dion, Myki Meeks, Nini Coco & Darlene Mitchell.

I still see the potential in them — they feel more like growers, not showers, and that usually makes for the most satisfying Drag Race journeys.

Now tell me — who are you rooting for this season? 👑✨
