#METRaya2026 Update: Diving Into the Archives
If you’ve been following my #METRaya journey, you already know that this year was supposed to be a big one. After all, it marks 10 years since I started making my own baju raya, which honestly still feels surreal to say out loud.
But life happens. And sometimes the grand plans we have need a little adjusting.
Earlier this year I shared that I might not have the capacity to go all out for #METRaya2026 the way I originally imagined. So instead of forcing something that might stress me out even more, I decided to do something I’ve never done before: dive into my archives.
And honestly? I’m kind of excited about it.
After going through my wardrobe and seeing what pieces still exist — and more importantly, what pieces still fit — I’ve narrowed it down to two looks that I think deserve a second moment.
The first look is from 2020. You remember 2020… the year Raya happened mostly inside our homes because of COVID. That year’s outfit never really got the moment it deserved. I barely wore it outside my room, and it definitely didn’t get the proper Raya outing. So I thought, why not give that look the second chance it deserves?
The second look is something much more sentimental.
It’s the OG #METRaya look from 2016.
Yes, the very first one.
This piece is special because it marks the beginning of my journey of making my own baju raya. Looking back at it now, I’m still incredibly proud of what I managed to create at that time. It represents the moment I decided to take my love for fashion and sewing into my own hands.
And honestly, bringing it back 10 years later feels full circle.
Of course, a part of me is still hoping that I might be able to squeeze in one new look for this year. But let’s be real — we’re already halfway through Ramadan and I haven’t even started drafting anything yet.
So will it happen?
I honestly don’t know.
But hey, the spirit of #METRaya has always been about creativity, expression, and having fun with fashion. Whether it’s a brand new look or a revival from the archives, the important thing is celebrating the journey.
Now I’m curious.
How is your #METRaya2026 preparation going? Are you planning something extravagant, keeping it classic, or maybe doing a little wardrobe revival like me?
