So, Katy Perry is back with her latest single Bandaids, rumored to be from her upcoming 7th studio album (codename KP7). Now, let’s be honest, Katy has always been that campy pop star, and it’s part of what makes her, well, her. While Lady Gaga also embraces camp, she’s done it through constant reinvention, while Katy’s version has always leaned more into bright, bubblegum, and cartoonish pop.

That being said, I get why people are starting to question her evolution at this point. But personally, I’m not a KatyCat, so I don’t stress too much about that. For me, if a song is good, it’s good, and Bandaids? It’s… fine. It gives a bit of that Never Really Over vibe, which I actually like, but it doesn’t quite hit the same emotional or sonic punch.

It’s pretty clear the song draws from her relationship with Orlando Bloom, which ended last year (or early this year, I think?). You can feel her heartbreak in the lyrics, but there’s also this sense of healing, like she’s patching herself up and moving forward for her daughter, Daisy. The music video is cute, the song is cute… but not something I’d put on repeat just yet. Maybe with a few more listens, it might grow on me. Who knows?

What do you guys think about Bandaids? And are you excited for KP7?
