Rosalía is back, and she’s not holding anything back with her new single Berghain, the first taste from her upcoming album Lux. Featuring Björk and Yves Tumor, this track feels like stepping into a cathedral on another planet, operatic, cinematic, and completely otherworldly.
You can really hear Rosalía flexing her classical training in this one. The vocals soar like an aria, yet it still has that avant-garde edge that only she can pull off. It’s haunting and hypnotic at the same time, one of those songs that you can’t quite explain but can feel deeply.
What really got me curious is her description of Lux. Rosalía said the album will feature her singing in multiple languages, Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Mandarin, Portuguese, Sicilian, and Ukrainian with each language representing the life of a different female saint. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an ambitious concept from a pop artist in my lifetime, and honestly, I’m excited to see how it unfolds.
I’ll definitely be tuning in when Lux drops because if Berghain is any indication, we’re about to witness something truly transcendent.
What do you guys think about the song?
