This week, I’ve been listening to Florence + The Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over” on repeat. And honestly? I don’t think there’s a more fitting song for where I am right now.

Yes — the dog days are over. After being unemployed since December, I finally started a new job in 2026. Alhamdulillah. It feels surreal typing that out.

Living off my savings for almost four months last year really took a toll on me — financially and mentally. There were days when I felt stuck, anxious, and constantly questioning myself. Every expense felt heavier, every plan felt delayed, and every doubt felt louder. It wasn’t just about money; it was about confidence, self-worth, and feeling like I was falling behind in life.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I want to make it right this time. This job feels crucial for me — not just as a source of income, but as a reset point. A chance to rebuild. A chance to piece back all the broken parts I’ve been carrying quietly these past few months.

And that’s why Dog Days Are Over hits so hard right now. It’s not just an upbeat song that makes you want to run or dance — it feels like a release. Like exhaling after holding your breath for far too long. It reminds me that tough seasons don’t last forever, even when they feel endless while you’re in them.

This year, I want to be better — for my mental health, my financial stability, and my overall well-being. I want to be more intentional, more grounded, and more forgiving with myself. This song is putting me in the right headspace to believe that better days aren’t just coming… they’re already here.

Here’s to fresh starts, second chances, and finally leaving the dog days behind.
