Let’s talk about Bebe Rexha. You know, the one who’s written some of the biggest hits for other artists, including The Monster for Eminem and Rihanna? Yeah, her. She’s got the looks, she’s got the talent, but somehow, she still hasn’t peaked like her pop star peers, and it makes no sense. Why is Bebe Rexha so underrated when she’s literally got everything to be a pop icon?
First off, her songwriting is unmatched. Long before she was even making her own music, she was behind some of the biggest hits that we all know and love. It’s crazy when you think about how much of the pop world has been shaped by her pen. And yet, when it comes to getting that top-tier recognition for herself, it’s like she’s stuck in this weird limbo of being popular but never too popular. It’s frustrating, because the talent is clearly there.
Take her debut album Expectations, for instance. If that album doesn’t scream pop-star potential, I don’t know what does. The way she balances catchy hooks with emotional depth is something most artists can only dream of doing. The songs are easy to listen to, they get stuck in your head, and they set a high bar for what Bebe Rexha could have been as a pop icon. But for some reason, she never quite hit that mega-fame status that so many other artists have, even when they’re less talented.
And that’s the part I really don’t get. She’s got the look—Bebe Rexha is stunning, she knows how to perform, and she’s got a voice that can go from raw and powerful to soft and sweet in seconds. Talent? That’s not even a question. She can sing, write, and perform with the best of them. So why isn’t she being treated like the pop royalty she deserves to be?
It’s not like she hasn’t put in the work. Bebe’s projects are consistently good. She’s not out here dropping a bad album or single just to stay relevant. Her music is fresh, easy to catch on to, and honestly, fun to listen to. So why is she still floating under the radar? Why isn’t she headlining massive tours and dominating the charts the way other pop stars do?
Maybe it’s because the industry still underestimates songwriters who turn into singers. Or maybe it’s because her music isn’t always “mainstream enough” for people to latch onto, even though it definitely has the quality. I don’t have all the answers, but what I do know is that Bebe Rexha deserves way more credit than she’s getting.
In a world where we constantly hype up the same few artists, it’s time we give Bebe her due. She’s been quietly dominating for years, whether we realize it or not, and it’s about time we start treating her like the pop icon she already is.
