Life has a way of reminding us that our time here is precious, and sometimes it feels especially fragile when we lose people who were part of our hearts and lives. Though they’re no longer with us physically, my late father, Faisal Bin Alwi, and my beloved niece, Nurul Irdina Binti Taufik, continue to be part of my everyday thoughts. The memory of their voices, smiles, and presence echoes through so many moments, ensuring they will never truly be gone.
It’s almost instinctual to hold onto memories that make us feel close to them, to recall even the smallest details and moments that made each of them unique. Whether it’s a quiet moment spent in solitude, a simple daily task that reminds me of something we did together, or a particular song playing in the background, these memories act as a comforting presence. They’re a part of my story, one that I carry with me through every season of life.
When I think of my father, I remember his guidance, the values he instilled in me, and his strength. And for Irdina, I see the vibrancy and joy she brought into our lives, a light extinguished far too soon. They both inspire me in ways that words often fail to capture, and honoring them means remembering and living with the lessons they left behind.
In the spaces left by their absence, these memories and songs become reminders of the love that remains. While the journey without them is not easy, these moments of reflection keep their spirit alive within me. Remembering them isn’t just about looking back; it’s also about carrying them forward with each step I take. They may be gone, but they will never be forgotten.
