When Lady Gaga first dropped Disease in October last year, it instantly became one of my favorite Gaga songs. The production was heavy, raw, and powerful—I’ve always loved when Gaga dabbles in rock-inspired sounds, and this one hit hard. I was so obsessed with Disease that I had it on repeat for a full week. But that was before Mayhem arrived.
I still remember the moment the album dropped. It kicked off with Disease, a familiar yet electrifying start. Then came Abracadabra, another high-energy banger. By the time Garden of Eden played, I was fully immersed, loving every second of it. But then, Perfect Celebrity began—its snippet had me convinced it was the rumored Gesaffelstein feature. Instead, what I got was something even more mind-blowing.
The production was heavier, darker, and Gaga’s vocals? Absolutely out of this world. She doesn’t just sing—she embodies the song. The way she manipulates her voice, shifting through different tones and techniques, is pure storytelling. And that’s what keeps me hooked on her music. Especially now, as she’s mastered vocal projection and emotion in ways that feel almost theatrical.
Perfect Celebrity is the perfect song from Gaga. It gives me chills every time I listen to it. Haunting, cinematic, and sonically a sister to Disease, yet somehow even better. Gaga has outdone herself again—because truly, no one is doing it like her.
Nearly two decades into her career, and she’s still delivering bangers of this caliber? Not everyone can do that.
