This week I want to talk about Lady Gaga’s brand new single The Dead Dance, released as part of the Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 rollout. Mother even made a cameo in episode 6 as Rosaline Rotwood, and honestly, what a perfect fit.
I absolutely love this song. To me, it feels like a continuation of Zombieboy dark, twisted, but still very much Gaga in her element. The way she leans into the gothic, theatrical vibe while still keeping it danceable is just perfection. It doesn’t feel out of place at all; in fact, it blends seamlessly into the Mayhem era and matches the world of Wednesday so well.
What makes this even more exciting is that Gaga dropped an extended digital version of Mayhem, finally including her previously physical-only songs Can’t Stop the High and Kill for Love, along with The Dead Dance. It feels like a gift for us Little Monsters, tying everything together so beautifully.
Honestly, I have no notes for this song. It’s exactly what I wanted it to be and maybe even more. Creepy, campy, theatrical, and 100% Gaga. What do you guys think?
