Song Of The Week: Thunder - Seventeen

Let’s talk about SEVENTEEN’s new song, Thunder.

When I first listened to it on Spotify, I’ll be honest — it didn’t immediately grab me. It felt like just another decent K-pop track. Nothing bad about it, but also nothing that stood out too much at first. But wow... how quickly that changed.

You know what really elevated the song for me? Visuals. Especially the choreography. I was scrolling through TikTok when I stumbled on some of the Thunder dance challenge videos — and suddenly, the song hit different. Then I saw a fancam of the group performing it live and that’s when it really started to click. By the time I watched the official music video, the song was stuck in my head.

It’s kind of wild how much visuals and stage presence can change your perception of a track, right? It reminds me of what happened with Gnarly by KATSEYE. That song was already a banger, but seeing it performed just added another layer of energy. Thunder gave me that same effect — it grew on me the more I saw it, not just heard it.

And to be honest, this is the first SEVENTEEN song that really caught my attention. I know, I know — late to the party. But if Thunder is any indication of where they’re going next, I might be staying for the full ride.

So yeah, Thunder may have started as a slow burn for me, but now? It’s officially on repeat.
