Today, I want to talk about yesterday’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, because whew… there was a lot to unpack.

I’ll be honest right off the bat — I’m not a Bad Bunny fan. That said, I’ve always respected him as an artist, and more importantly (to me), as a fellow Little Monster. So while I wasn’t exactly counting down the days for his halftime show, I still tuned in. And honestly, I’ve been tuning in every year since 2017 anyway — because once Lady Gaga headlined the Super Bowl, whatever that woman touches, I’m seated. Always.

But before we even get into this year’s halftime show, can we please take a moment to appreciate the most random Super Bowl duet we’ve ever gotten?

Lady Gaga… singing with Pokémon’s most iconic vocalist — Jigglypuff.

Yes. That happened.

Mother Monster actually went “Jigglypuff~ Jigglypuff~” during the Super Bowl. That was NOT on my 2026 bingo card. Or any bingo card, ever. That alone deserves its own cultural reset moment because… that’s mother behaviour.

Now, back to Bad Bunny’s halftime show.

Production-wise? I honestly think this is one of the most ambitious halftime shows we’ve seen from a male artist. The set was massive, the visuals were layered, the cameos kept coming — it was clear that a lot of thought and intention went into the performance. And when I tell you I lost my mind when Lady Gaga appeared on that stage? I mean screaming, lungs-gone, soul-ascending behaviour.

Mother Monster herself showed up and performed a salsa-fied version of “Die With A Smile.”

Now listen — I heard the rumours that she might guest perform, but Gaga? In the middle of a Latin culture celebration? I was like… what would she even sing?

“Americano”?

“Alejandro”?

So I fully convinced myself I was being delulu. But when she actually appeared, it made complete sense.

First of all, Gaga is very much a mother figure to Bad Bunny, who we all know is a certified Little Monster. For him to invite his idol to guest perform at the biggest show of his career just feels right. It felt like honouring someone who inspired him to become the artist he is today — and I respect him deeply for that.

And for Gaga to say yes? That hit even harder.

Because if you’ve followed her journey, you know she didn’t exactly receive that kind of support when she first entered the industry. So seeing her now, in this position — being celebrated, respected, and uplifted by artists she inspired — that’s growth. That’s healing. I love that for her.

And the song choice? “Die With A Smile” is one of the biggest songs to hit the radio in recent years. I know couples are using it for weddings. And where did Gaga perform it during the halftime show?

At an actual wedding

In the middle of a stadium

During the Super Bowl

Icon behaviour only.

Yes, the start of the song felt a little questionable at first, but she was essential to the performance. Her presence helped tell a story — about love, joy, celebration, and togetherness.

Even though I didn’t understand a word being sung for most of the show, I was fully locked into the vibe. It felt joyful, communal, and alive. And honestly? As an outsider looking in, it felt like something a lot of people in America really needed during such a testing time.

All in all, this easily goes down as one of my favourite Super Bowl Halftime Shows, second only to Lady Gaga’s own iconic performance.

And really… what more can you ask for than culture, joy, and Mother showing up exactly when you don’t expect her?
