So, the Drag Race universe is expanding yet again, this time with Drag Race Down Under Vs The World. And honestly? My feelings are pretty mixed about it. On one hand, I’m excited because who doesn’t love more drag to binge? But on the other hand, I really think World of Wonder (or Mama Ru herself) needs to streamline this franchise a little before it starts to feel oversaturated and confusing.

When they first introduced UK Vs The World, I was obsessed with the idea of international queens battling it out alongside the host country’s best. Fabulous! Then came Canada’s Drag Race Vs The World, and I thought, “Cool, so maybe different franchises will get to host this format.” But then suddenly, we got Global All Stars. Why? I still don’t know. They could have just continued the Vs The World approach and avoided all this mess.

I get that language barriers play a part in how they shape the spin-offs, but it still feels a little haywire at this point. Take Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale, I’m actually okay with that one because it makes sense, focusing solely on Asian queens worldwide. But Down Under Vs The World? Personally, I would have loved to see something like Drag Race España: Spanish Royale, where queens from Spanish-speaking franchises compete. That feels fresh and cohesive.

If it were up to me, here’s what I’d do: let each franchise have its own All Stars season first, and then queens who have already proven themselves there can be invited to a true Global All Stars, the best of the best from every corner of the Drag Race universe. That would be way more exciting.

But hey, that’s just me. What do you all think about the way these spin-offs keep multiplying?

And before I sign off, congrats to Mami Watta, the first-ever winner of Drag Race France: All Stars! She really ate that crown. 👑✨
