Tuesday Tea: GV12

Can you believe Gegar Vaganza is already in its 12th season? I’ve been watching since Season 1, and even after all these years, I still find the show entertaining and meaningful. There’s something really special about seeing singers, especially those who were once chart-toppers or one-hit wonders, getting a second chance to shine on stage. It’s nostalgic, inspiring, and always full of surprises.

But I have to admit, this year’s lineup feels a little… underwhelming to me. I don’t know why, but the excitement I usually get from the announcement of the contestants just wasn’t there this time. Still, I’m keeping an open mind, sometimes the most unexpected performers end up being the season’s biggest stars!

As always, it’s such a nice mix of talents across the region, and I love how Gegar Vaganza continues to connect Southeast Asia through music.

If I had to pick my top three favourites so far, they would be Mendua, Shae, and Krisya. All three have that spark that makes me look forward to their performances every week. But if I had to place my bet, it’s definitely on Mendua. I have a feeling they might just become the first-ever group to win Gegar Vaganza, and honestly, I’d love to see that happen!

Here’s to another season of nostalgia, big vocals, and dramatic judges’ comments (because what’s Gegar Vaganza without a little drama, right?).
