What's The Tea: RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Losing Its Sparkle?

Tea cup illustration

Oh, RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars, what has happened to you? You were once the epitome of glam, glitz, and glitter, but now? Well, let's just say the sparkle is looking a little dull.

The Spoilers and the “New” Format

So, the Reddit spoilers are out for the possible cast of Season 10. And let’s talk about this alleged new format. It’s like the producers are throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. Desperation, much? I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But no, apparently we need a new gimmick every five seconds to keep the audience entertained. Remember when the show was about actual talent and not just convoluted twists? Yeah, me neither.

The Casting Choices: A Hot Mess

And don’t even get me started on the casting. We already had an All-Winners season. So why, oh why, are they bringing back a winner to compete in a regular All-Stars season? Are they running out of queens, or is it just a lack of imagination? If you've already been crowned, what's left to prove?

And the international queens? Seriously? We have a Global All-Stars season for a reason. But no, let’s mix them all up because, apparently, geography and logic don’t matter anymore. It’s like the producers are throwing a bunch of queens into a blender and hoping for a gourmet drag smoothie. Spoiler alert: it’s coming out more like a messy drag slushie.

The Charm is Gone

The charm of All-Stars was that it gave deserving queens a second chance to shine. Now it’s just a mishmash of random choices and desperate attempts to keep things fresh. It’s like watching a once-great artist try to stay relevant by hopping on every trend. Exhausting and kind of sad, honestly.

So here’s to hoping the producers will take a step back and remember what made All-Stars great in the first place. Talent, charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent – not random gimmicks and recycled queens. If not, we might as well start calling it RuPaul’s Drag Race: The Desperation Edition. Cheers to that.
