ARTPOP saw the shift among Little Monsters. Some chose to part ways because they think this album is too ambitious for Lady Gaga, some chose to leave the Little Monsters’ nest because they think that this album was a flop. The truth is, those who chose to leave are weak. Honestly, I don’t think that this album is a flop. I think that this album is bomb as hell. There’s no other pop EDM album like it and seriously Lady Gaga is ahead of this genre’s time.
ARTPOP was really back on (insert date) and I remembered I was staying up all night because I don’t want to miss out the reveal of the album cover. Come on, another iconic album covers ever right? So art-sy and pop-sy is just right and fitting with the direction of the album.
Having Applause released as the first single, it didn’t do quite well as another pop singer was also releasing her new single at that time. But for me, Applause is a good song and the mood of the song is really lifting. The video was simple yet very Lady Gaga.
Next, Lady Gaga release Venus as the second single and Do What You Want as the promo single before she switched it up between the two due to the well-received of DWYW among the mainstream radios. The video for DWYW was scrapped off and remain hidden though the video is allegedly 100% finished but because of R.Kelly’s past or whatever, Lady Gaga chose not to release the video. Urgh!
Lastly, Lady Gaga released G.U.Y as the third single and the video is epic! Weird that it didn’t get nominated for VMA video of the year. Robbed much?
Okay now let’s see my favourite from the 15 tracks album:
Favorite Single: G.U.Y
Favorite Song: Gypsy
Favorite Video: G.U.Y
P/S: Do you think that ARTPOP was ahead of it's time?
