Netflix And Chill: Never Have I Ever

This is so far the best series that I've watched on Netflix! Sure it seems like any other coming of age series but this one is probably the most fun and diverse cast in a series that I've ever watched. There are some part of the series that I'm able to relate with such as how Devi lost her father abruptly during her orchestral recital and how she's trying to cope with the sudden lost. It has been something that I've been dealing with for the past 7 years now. To watch your father collapsed before your eyes was traumatic I would say.

The cultural diversity in this series is not just a gimmick but it really tells a story and each characters really embodied the conflict well. The obvious one would be Devi where as an Indian-American, she individual choices often clash with collective values shared from her Indian heritage. These conflicts faced by these characters are what make us not only root for them but we become them.

Another thing that made this series so close to heart is because the characters are far from perfect! They are not the cool kids but they are just wannabes that are trying to prove their worth in the society and most of us are that wannabes .Just like us, Devi is dealing with lots of issues including, her heritage, family, friends and love life. The characters development in this series are so powerful because the flaws in the characters make them more accessible, and vulnerability makes them less distant than us.

Lastly, of course the messages this series trying to deliver that makes it fun to watch. There's a lot if I were to list it one by one but the most important one is to embrace ourselves and be true to who we are. We can see that most of the characters dealt with humility and disappointment and only when they fully embrace who they really are do they find contentment.

Finally I feel like 'Never Have I Ever' does not only tell the story of Devi but it actually tells the story of all of us! Have you watched the series? What do you think about it?

P/S: I hope there's a season 2 because I really want to know what happens after that last scene!
