The Power of Bernazar: How a Simple Promise Changed My Career Trajectory
Korang pernah tak rasa macam nak nangis sebab penat sangat cari kerja?
Apply berpuluh-puluh kat LinkedIn, update resume sampai sepuluh kali, tapi inbox tetap senyap sunyi. Or worse, dapat interview tapi jawapan dia tetap, "We decided to move forward with another candidate." Stress, kan?
Lately, I’ve had a lot of quiet, alone moments with God. Previously, we talked about how Allah SWT is the ultimate tempat mengadu. Today, I want to share something a bit more specific that has personally turned my life around multiple times: the power of bernazar.
If you're currently struggling in life or feeling stuck in your career, grab a cup of coffee and hear me out.
Wait, What Exactly Is "Bernazar"?
For those who might not be familiar with the term, bernazar (making a vow/promise to Allah SWT) is basically when you make a solemn promise to your Creator: "Ya Allah, if You grant me this specific request, I promise to perform this good deed for You."
Once your request is granted, fulfilling that promise becomes mandatory (wajib).
Now, a quick reminder: you can't just nazar anything random or non-permissible. Islamic scholars always encourage making vows tied to acts of worship (amalan ibadah) like fasting (berpuasa), giving charity (bersedekah), or praying extra sunnah prayers.
For example, you make a intention: "Ya Allah, if I land a job this month, I will fast for one week straight." Once that job offer letter hits your email? You better fulfill that promise!
My Personal Experience: Landing 99% of My Jobs Through Bernazar
I'm speaking purely from personal experience here. Over the years, my friends have often told me, "Senang betul kau dapat kerja, kan?"
And I won't lie, alhamdulillah, I’ve had a relatively smooth ride when it comes to job hunting. But if you ask me what my "secret weapon" or magic formula is? 99% of the time I landed a job, it was because I bernazar.
Here is my exact personal routine whenever I’m looking for a career move:
Before Getting the Job: While applying and going for interviews, I consistently fast every Monday and Thursday (puasa sunat Isnin & Khamis).
The Vow (Nazar): I make a clear intention to Allah SWT that if I successfully secure the job offer, I will fast for one week straight (puasa seminggu berturut-turut).
After the Offer: The moment I sign the contract, I fulfill my vow.
To be honest, it works so consistently that sometimes I laugh at myself for ever doubting the process. We are asking from our Creator! Allah’s power is limitless and beyond human comprehension. What is a small job offer to the One who owns the entire universe?
Why Are We Embarrassed to Beg Allah SWT?
We live in a world where people will literally beg their exes to stay, plead with toxic bosses for a promotion, or jump through endless hoops to impress recruiters who don't even reply to emails.
If we can beg humans who have zero control over our fate, why are we embarrassed to beg Allah SWT?
There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of when you lower yourself, weep, and beg your Creator. That is literally our purpose as His servants (hamba). We are the ones in desperate need of His grace (ehsan), not the other way around.
And here’s the most important reminder for all of us: always keep a good opinion (husnuzon) of Allah.
If you’ve been praying and making vows for something you desperately want, but the door keeps slamming shut, don't give up! It simply means Allah is protecting you from a hidden danger you can't see. And if He doesn't grant your specific request in this dunia, He is holding onto something a million times better for your akhirat.
Keep Asking, Keep Vowing
To anyone currently going through a rough patch, whether you're unemployed, stuck in a toxic workplace, or just feeling lost, try resetting your strategy.
Keep polishing your resume, yes. Go for those interviews, sure. But couple your effort with the power of bernazar. Make a sincere promise to Allah, fast, give sedekah, and watch how doors open in ways you never expected.
Teruskan meminta. Never stop begging the One who controls your rezeki.
