My Running Era?

Every time I start a new job, it feels like I stumble into a new “era” of my life. Back when I first started working as a social media manager for two Anytime Fitness branches and one F45 studio, I definitely entered my fitness era. That job pushed me to pay attention to my health, watch my weight, and commit to regular workouts. Even now, I still make it a point to hit the gym at least once a week.

Fast forward to today, I’ve started working with another sports-related brand, and this one is especially loved by runners. Which makes me wonder: am I now stepping into my running era?

Just yesterday, my company organized its own run at Dataran Merdeka. I wasn’t actually running, but it sure felt like it. I was darting around with my camera, snapping photos and creating content for social media. To make it happen, I had to wake up at 4 AM, be on-site by 5 AM, and prep for the run that kicked off at 7 AM. Apparently, that’s totally normal for runners, but for me, it felt like stepping into an alternate universe. My brain was foggy, I barely processed what was going on, and by the time I got home, I collapsed with a spinning headache. And remember, I wasn’t even running.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a morning person. I love waking up early to enjoy the peace, the cool air, and my slow routine. But waking up to sweat and push your body at sunrise? That’s a whole different ball game.

Still, this feels like just the beginning. Next month, I’ll be at KLSCM, the biggest marathon in Kuala Lumpur. Whether I’m running or once again sprinting with my camera, I think it’s safe to say: my running era has begun. Oh god… what have I gotten myself into?
