WDWN: Oh-gust!

Oh... Gust.
Yes, it's a play on the month itself, but also an accurate representation of my reaction when I looked at the calendar.
Oh!
We're already in August?
That means there are only four more months until 2027.
How?
I genuinely feel like I was just celebrating the start of 2026 yesterday. Okay, maybe saying I feel like I was born yesterday is a little dramatic—but honestly, time has been moving at a speed that I simply cannot keep up with. One moment I'm making New Year's resolutions, and the next I'm wondering where the year disappeared to.
So... what was done in July?
If you've been reading this series, you'll probably notice a recurring theme: "Honestly, not much."
But maybe that's okay.
July wasn't filled with big milestones or exciting adventures. It was quieter than that. The biggest personal highlight was, of course, turning 35. I'm still wrapping my head around that number, but surprisingly, it doesn't scare me. If anything, it reminds me that life isn't a race. Everyone has their own timeline, and I'm learning to be more at peace with mine.
The biggest change this month actually happened at work.
Early in July, I sat down with my boss to discuss where the company is headed and how I can contribute more effectively. We had a really honest conversation about the current state of the business and what marketing should realistically focus on.
At the end of the day, businesses exist to make money.
As much as I love creating content and building a social media presence, organic content alone isn't always enough to drive immediate revenue—especially when you don't have a full team behind it. Great marketing isn't just about getting likes or views; it's about supporting the business where it needs help the most.
So we've decided to shift my focus.
Instead of spending most of my time creating social media content, I'll now be working more closely with the sales team. That means helping them identify and reach out to potential clients, while also preparing stronger pitch decks, catalogues, and sales materials that can actually help close deals.
And honestly...
I think it makes sense.
Marketing has always been much bigger than social media. Somewhere along the way, I think many of us—including myself—started equating marketing with content creation. But this opportunity is reminding me that marketing comes in many forms, and every one of them serves the same purpose: helping the business grow.
So, what's next?
If I'm being completely honest, I think what's next is a bit of a mental reset.
For the longest time, I thought my career path was already mapped out. I wanted to create content, build communities, and tell stories through social media. Some days, that still excites me.
But then there are other days when I find myself wanting something different.
Something new.
Something that challenges me in ways I haven't explored before.
This opportunity to step into another side of marketing feels like one of those moments where life quietly asks, "What if there's another path you haven't considered?"
I don't know if this will become the direction I want to pursue long-term.
Maybe it will.
Maybe it won't.
But I owe it to myself to find out.
One thing I've learned over the past couple of years is that every time I think I've finally figured out my career, the universe politely laughs and throws in another plot twist.
So perhaps instead of resisting it, I'll embrace it.
Who knows?
Maybe this twist is exactly what I needed.
As August begins, I'm choosing curiosity over certainty.
I'm choosing growth over comfort.
And I'm choosing to trust that even if I don't have everything figured out today, I'm still moving in the right direction.
Pray for me as I navigate this new chapter.
And I sincerely hope that every kind prayer you send my way returns to you with even greater blessings.
Thank you for always reading these little monthly reflections.
See you at the end of August.
